Andres Iniesta's next contract with Barcelona could see the Spanish legend remain at the Camp Nou for not just the rest of his career, but the rest of his life.

In theory.

The La Liga champions are set to reward the 32-year-old with a special lifetime contract, according to Spanish media outlet SPORT, meaning Iniesta can stay with the Catalan giants for as long as he desires.

The new contract will also allow Iniesta to transition into a coaching or potentially managerial role once he retires from his playing career.

Iniesta has lifted eight La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, four Copa Del Reys and three FIFA Club World Cups during his 15 years as part of the Barcellona first team. At international level he has also reigned supreme, lifting two European Championships and a World Cup with Spain, scoring the winning goal in the World Cup final against the Netherlands in 2010.

It should be noted that Iniesta has not officially put pen to paper on a new deal as of yet, although he is widely expected to do so in the near future.

It will be interesting to see if similarly long serving players such as Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets and Lonel Messi be offered similar deals towards the end of their careers.
