It has been announced that Fiorentina will rename their training ground after former captain Davide Astori, who sadly passed away earlier this month.

Astori was tragically found dead ahead of the club's Serie A match against Udinese on March 4 and the news led to the suspension of all Serie A games on that Sunday.

It was later revealed cardiac arrest as the most likely cause of death.

The club have since retired the number 13 jersey in tribute to the former Italy international and now they will rename their training ground after Astori.

Fiorentina's Executive President Mario Cognini told Mediaset Premium the following:

"The past week has been particularly difficult and I want to thank everyone for their shows of affection and understanding we received during this painful period,"

"There was a sense of unity created within the world of sport by all who shared Davide's values and had the good fortune to know him.

"We want to dedicate our current training centre to Astori, because it was his home. He even spent his time off there with his family.

"It will no longer be called Campini, but rather Centro Sportivo Davide Astori. This is just the first initiative we are taking to ensure we can feel this special person close to us every day and we are discussing the best ways to do that with his family and the local council."

In another great tribute to Astori, Fiorentina and former side Cagliari decided to retire their number 13 shirts, announcing the news on Twitter:

RIP, Davide.
