A superb gesture.

La Liga side Las Palmas have announced all supporters will receive free season tickets following their relegation.

After a poor campaign in which they've accrued just 21 points, Paco Jémez's side will be playing in the second tier of Spanish football next tear - the 4-0 humbling at the hands of Alaves on home soil last week proving be the final nail in the coffin.

It's a huge blow for a team who finished in 11th and 14th place in seasons before, but the club have softened it somewhat with a brilliant gesture. They made the announcement today that supporters will not pay a single penny to watch their team at home in the Segunda division next term.

While the disappointment of relegation still remains, the Canary Islands outfit have showed they genuinely care about their fans. Packing out the Estadio Gran Canaria and getting behind the team will be key in their bid to bounce back at the first time of asking.

Several teams on these shores could learn a thing or two from Las Palmas - struggling Sunderland, condemned to a second successive relegation, being one club who should follow suit after the shite season they have put their supporters through of late.
