Josef Martinez Has The Most Ridiculous Penalty-Technique In World Football
Just when you thought Paul Pogba had the most incredible penalty technique, you come across the approach Atlanta United's Josef Martinez adopts.
Pogba has made all sorts of headlines for his 'slow motion' penalties this season, with one run-up in particular lasting 26 steps and taking longer than Usain Bolt's world record 100m sprint.
But while Pogba takes an absolute age in his run-up, Martinez's style is quite the opposite. Instead, he pauses, almost does a "hop, skip and jump" towards the ball and then tucks it away.
He did it from the spot in the 3-1 win over Argentina last night, wowing everyone in the process.

It looks a bit daft but it's brought him a lot of success. The penalties aren't hit with any venom but it's so tricky for the goalkeeper because Martinez forces them to make a move and then picks his spot.
Chelsea's Jorginho takes his pens in a very similar way but Martinez is the absolute master of it. It's not just something he does as a one-off, it's his primary penalty-taking technique and goalkeepers are still yet to figure out how to stop it.
His goal record on the whole is actually pretty insane, having netted 35 in 39 games for Atlanta in what was the most decorated season for a player in MLS history.
If you want another casual and saucy penalty technique to feast your eyes on, gawk at the 'one-step' penalty Athletic Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz conjured up in December.
