Jose Mourinho Set To Axe Eight Manchester United Players

Mass clear-out.

Jose Mourinho is set to make his mark on the Manchester United squad by getting rid of eight players this summer.

The incoming United boss wants to trim his squad and get rid of the dead wood at the club to help fund a massive £100m move to bring back Paul Pogba to Old Trafford.

Following a disappointing season under Louis van Gaal in which United could only claim a place in next season's Europa League, Mourinho plans to make huge changes which will come at the expense of many underperforming United stars.

Defenders Tyler Blackett and Guillermo Varela have been put up on the transfer list as they are surplus to requirements. Youngster Adnan Januzaj could join them after an unsuccessful season on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

The likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Marcos Rojo could also be on the move - neither really shone last season in an underwhelming campaign. The same can be said for Dutch duo Daley Blind and Memphis Depay, while Juan Mata has already been disposed of by Mourinho once before and has been linked with a move to Everton.

When you aspire to have a team comprising of the mercurial talents of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and potentially Paul Pogba, a mass clear-out seems about right.
