The Manchester United man, who starred for West Ham last season, shared a picture of himself watching England's Wembley Stadium opener.

He wore an England shirt with Declan Rice's name on the back - not to mention a parrot on his shoulder, as he watched Southgate's charges beat Croatia 1-0.

Lingard also held a DJ session after the match as locals enjoyed themselves following England's big win.

England resume their campaign on Friday when they host Scotland before closing the group stage phase with a clash against Czech Republic.

Speaking after his side's win on Sunday, Southgate said: "You know if you don't win the first game, the pressure ramps up.

"We have two really difficult games left in this group and we made a good step forward today, but [there are] important steps to go to qualify.

"I'm most pleased with the performance.

"Of course the win is important. It was a big occasion, a sweltering hot day and the players settled really quickly, used the ball well and we limited Croatia to very few clear chances throughout the game."
