Jack Butland Takes And Scores All Of Stoke's Penalties In Shoot-Out
In one of the most bizarre endings to a football game, Stoke City and Duisburg had a penalty shoot-out between three players. Two of them were goalkeepers and one of them was Jack Butland, who took and scored all three penalties.
The Potters travelled to Germany and played out a 1-1 draw in the friendly, which then unexpectedly went to a penalty shoot-out.
But evidently it wasn't like anything we've seen before as Butland assumed duties from 12 yards as well as carrying out his usual role in between the sticks.
He was unable to save any of the spot-kicks he faced but displayed a remarkable ability taking penalties when he converted all three.
Surreal end to the game there. Finished 1-1, Stoke players warming down and it's decided there'll be a penalty shootout. Butland took all 3 for us then the ref knocked it on the head :joy::flag_de::red_circle::white_circle: pic.twitter.com/n3jdeMFLNw- Will (@willstokie) July 13, 2019

Hat trick for Jack Butland! Very odd game but can't complain for free ticket. City not so great, transport links poor and police sending us as far away from home fans as possible (even though I stood with them first half) #groundhopping pic.twitter.com/gL2R0iiwT2
However, despite the shoot-out finishing all square at 3-3, somehow Duisburg were declared the winners - much to the confusion of the Stoke Twitter account.
Six penalties, all scored, all of ours were taken by Butland but apparently Duisburg take the trophy ♂️ #SCFC :red_circle::white_circle:- Stoke City FC (@stokecity) July 13, 2019
Butland has courted strong interest from Villa ahead of their upcoming season back in the Premier League but there's extra reason for Stoke to resist any offers having seen how he takes a penalty.
