Hatem Ben Arfa is set to try and get his career back on track by returning to Nice in Ligue One.

The former Newcastle United and Marseille winger has just left Paris Saint-Germain after his contract with the Parisians came to an end, following a dismal end to his spell with the club.

The 31-year old played 23 league games in the 2016/17 term but didn't manage a single outing last term - leading to Ben Arfa jokingly celebrating a year without playing in the French capital.

But with his PSG nightmare over and done with, Ben Arfa is now poised to return to a happy environment which culminated in some of his best form a few years back.

Rennes, Benfica and Sporting CP are all believed to have shown interest in the Frenchman but RMC Sport say his decision is to go back to Nice.

Following his release from Newcastle, he returned to France with Claude Puel's Nice in 2015 and flourished - notching a superb tally of 17 goals in 38 games as they finished fourth in Ligue One.

He well and truly got his career rebuilt his reputation and earned his big move to PSG.

Now, three years on, he finds himself in a repeat scenario and it feels like heading back to Nice is the most sensible decision.

Nice, now managed by Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, have endured a difficult start to the season and sit in 18th place after picking up just one point from three games.

Could the arrival of Ben Arfa help spring the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Mario Balotelli back into life and help the team climb up the table?

As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments.
