Harry Maguire Says His Dad Is To Blame For His 'Slab Head'

Harry Maguire Says His Dad Is To Blame For His 'Slab Head'

It runs in the family apparently.

Gareth Southgate's waistcoat has become a huge hit over the World Cup, but so too has Harry Maguire's head.

The Leicester City defender, formerly of Sheffield United and Hull City, has been utterly imperious at the heart of England's backline.

He powered home the opening goal in the 2-0 quarter final victory over Sweden with a bullet header on Saturday and has already become an internet meme and national hero at the same time.

A lot of that has to do with the fact that the 25-year old has an abnormally sized head. Everyone has been curious as to how Maguire, who looks like he could have passed as one of Malfoy's mates in Harry Potter, has ended up with such a massive noggin.

BBC presenter Gabby Logan was also keen to get the gossip and asked whether it's a family trait, to which he replied: "Yeah, I blame my dad".

Following up, Gabby wondered if it's earned him any nicknames along the way - with Maguire revealing that Jamie Vardy calls him "Slab head".

He doesn't feel it's very complimentary but added that he was a few for his club and international teammate that he couldn't possibly share on camera.

One supporter has got a bit too carried away with the whole 'it's coming home' lark and actually got a picture of the defender tattooed on his back, after saying he would do so should Maguire find the net against Sweden

The man himself was so impressed that he offered to send him a signed shirt from the whole squad.

Relight Maguire, your love is my only desire.
