And then there were three.

Monday will crown the Golden Boy of 2017. Italian publication Tuttosport initially released a 24-man shortlist for the coveted prize. The finest talents under the age of 21 contest for the trophy which is in the possession of Renato Sanches.

Though with the award night nearing close, the list has been whittled down to three.

The likes of AC Milan's Gigi Donnarumma, Manchester United's Marcus Rashford and Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic, among others, have all missed out.

In the running for the award are Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe, Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele and Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus.

Mbappe rose to prominence with AS Monaco, last season. He starred for the Ligue 1 side which culminated in winning the league title ahead of PSG and Lyon.

Though he also produced heroics in the Champions League as the French outfit made the semi-finals, with the teenage phenom breaking record after record.

In the summer, Mbappe completed a move across the league with PSG securing his services. International compatriot Dembele also sealed a huge transfer following the campaign he enjoyed.

Barcelona drafted in Dembele for a massive £97 million who churned out brilliant outings in the Bundesliga.

Finally, Premier League representative Gabriel Jesus is the third nominee. The Brazilian burst onto the scene, and he's quickly becoming an integral part of Pep Guardiola's set up at Manchester City.
