It may have taken him almost nine matches to do it, but Lionel Messi has finally scored against Chelsea.

And the Barcelona forward couldn't have picked a much better time to break his duck against the Premier League champions.

With Barcelona trailing to a fantastic Willian strike during their Champions League second round clash at Stamford Bridge, tonight, the diminutive Argentine punished Chelsea for some slack defending, effortlessly passing an Andres Iniesta cutback into the net past a helpless Thibaut Courtois.

Much had been made of Messi's inability to score past the Blues, with eight games coming and going before tonight with the 30-year-old failing to find the back of the net.

Messi's effort gives Barcelona a priceless away goal to take back to the Camp Nou in three weeks time. You wouldn't back against the five time Ballon d'Or winner to add to his tally against the Blues during the second leg, either.
