Does somebody want to tell Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp that Football Manager 2012 was five years ago? The 70-year-old looks like he's filtered all of his transfer targets by international caps and an expired contract status.

In one of the most Harry Redknapp stories we have ever come across, the former Tottenham and Portsmouth manager has confirmed that Championship side Birmingham are interested in bringing in three former Premier League stars.

Of course, Harry himself confessed his interest in the trio. No need for gossip columns and back page bullshit when it comes to the transfer king.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports News HQ, Redknapp confirmed that he is currently chasing former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole, who was quote 'the best left-back in the world a few years ago'. Fair comment.

Redknapp also wants to sign former England international Stewart Downing. He said the following about the 32-year-old winger, who currently plays for the recently relegated Middlesbrough:

"Stewart Downing is a proper player, got a great left foot, he's fit as a fiddle. Whether we could afford him I don't know. Wage-wise I don't know where we would go with it, I haven't got a clue what he earns, and he belongs to Middlesbrough, but I think they've said he can go on a free, so he's of interest.

Absolutely triffic, Harry.

The final name on Harry's wishlist could be his best piece of business to date - that's if he manages to seal the deal this summer.

Former Tottenham striker Robbie Keane is another 'proper player' according to the man, the myth, the legend:

"Robbie Keane is a proper player; a great professional and infectious character. He's a great trainer. He would be wonderful around the dressing room, showing people how you become a top-class pro for so many years."

Throw in a Niko Kranjčar and we've got a title winning side on FM12.

Never change, Harry.
