Stoke City midfielder Glenn Whelan could miss his side's trip to Liverpool this weekend after injuring his back while getting out of his car.

Speaking about the freak occurrence, Stoke's assistant manager Mark Bowen said: "He didn't do anything untoward, he just got out of the car and felt something crack in his back."
