Should try China, mate

Adel Taarabt is the sort of footballer we love at TheSPORTbible towers. Running around breaking your bollocks putting a shift in is a mugs game really, so hats off to Adel for letting hard work not get in the way of talent.

This boy got some serious grooves but unfortunately he's also got a massive arse and belly and the stamina of your average Sunday league chain smoking, beer-swilling nutjob.

Taarabt is a footballer for another generation. He'd have gone down a storm in the swinging sixties with George Best and Frank Worthington, but 40 years on he's been lost to sports science and nutritionists.

Now aged 27, the Moroccan international appears to have been binned off by his latest club after another underwhelming spell.

He had been on the books of Benfica since 2015, but after making just seven appearances for their 'B' team in that time, his stint in Lisbon could be up.

Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira has spoken to the club's official website to give Taarabt the death knell.

"Taarabt is my and Rui Costa's fault. But he's a good player. I don't understand anything about football, but I have a man by my side who understands a lot, which is Rui Costa."

"We watched and re-watched his games. But there are things lacking. He arrived with six extra pounds, but now he's at the right weight. After the interview he gave, he certainly won't wear the Benfica shirt."

Where next, Adel? The MLS is nice this time of year and China will take anyone.
