Manchester United fans have stepped up their campaign against the club's owners by bombarding new shirt sponsors, TeamViewer, with negative reviews on TrustPilot.

Supporters are desperate to force out the Glazer family, who controversially bought the club in 2005. The farcical and aborted plan to join a European Super League marked another low point in fan discontent and was the spark behind Sunday's protests at Old Trafford which saw fans enter the stadium and a scheduled game against Liverpool postponed.

Now fans are trying to hit the club owners where it hurts: in the pocket, by writing thousands of negative comments about German software firm TeamViewer online.

The company signed a five-year deal to be Manchester United's main shirt sponsor from the 2021/22 season, said to be worth £47 million per year to the club.

TeamViewer apparently wanted to connect to United's "community of 1.1 billion fans and followers" - but they probably didn't anticipate so many of them would apparently begin reviewing the firm on TrustPilot.

TeamViewer now has a 1.1 star overall rating on the popular review website with 93% of their reviews categorised as 'bad'.

According to Mail Sport, TeamViewer boasted a 4.5 star rating before the protest against the Glazers erupted.

The vast majority of the one-star reviews mention the company's association with the Glazers.

One of the frustrations United supporters claim is that the club's owners have never communicated directly with the fanbase and there is a sense that they are powerless - under current rules regarding football club governance - in influencing how their club is run.

So drastic and alternative measures, such as Sunday's demonstrations or trying to pressure the club's sponsors, are being undertaken.

Man United have become a commercial juggernaut under the Glazer family with 65 official partners or sponsors worldwide. However fans contest that the Glazers take money from the club and care nothing for its heritage or traditions.

It remains to be seen if any of the fan-led actions have any impact on the clubs owners - or their biggest sponsors.
