Former Liverpool and Stoke City player has been blessed with many talents - but swinging on crossbars seemingly isn't one of them.

Now playing for Lyon, the 5 ft 7-inch playmaker amused Twitter users everywhere after spectacularly missing the bar when trying to jump up and hang from it.

The incident took place during last Thursday's Europa League clash between Lyon and Sparta Prague.

The French outfit ran out 4-3 winners in the Czech capital, with Shaqiri playing the full 90 minutes. However, far from any piece of individual skill or brilliance, the 30-year-old's most memorable moment turned out to be his fateful jump attempt.

A number of users replied to the original post, which has amassed well over 30k likes on Twitter at the time of writing. One fan even observed how the Swiss midfielder managed to reach the crossbar with ease back in his Stoke City days.

All jokes aside, Shaqiri has gotten off to a solid start in Ligue 1, already grabbing a league goal, while remaining a regular in Lyon's starting XI.

The former FC Basel star recently spoke on why he left Liverpool, citing the need for a new challenge.

During his last season under Jurgen Klopp, he played a bit-part role in the league, leading to his eventual £5m move to the Groupama Stadium back in the summer.

"I wanted to leave Liverpool sooner," Shaqiri told the Liverpool Echo.

"But I wasn't allowed to; the club wouldn't let me go. The important thing for me is that I'm gone now. There were also offers from Spain and Italy."We never had any problems with each other, and we had a very good relationship. But I just wanted a new challenge, that's normal in football. Jurgen [Klopp] helped me in this regard."Featured Image Credit:
