Pep Guardiola has pleaded Manchester City fans to come to the Etihad for their Premier League clash against Southampton on Saturday.

Man City opened their Champions League campaign with a resounding win over RB Leipzig.

Guardiola's side smashed the German club 6-3, with the Spaniard turning his attention to their next league fixture.

And during his post-match interview with Des Kelly, he invited Man City fans to their match on the weekend.

"I'd like more people to come on Saturday," he said. "We will be tired. Southampton are so dangerous.

"I invite all our people to come 3pm to watch our game..."

This comes after the Etihad wasn't sold out for their Champions League opener on Wednesday.

Needless to say, rival fans online mocked the club following Guardiola's comments.

One tweeted: "Can't believe the board have made him do this...kinda feel bad. It's embarrassing for him and the club but there is nothing they can do more than keep reducing prices, running social media's etc. If their plastic fans, so be it...they need people in seats."

A second joked: "Maybe in the January window instead of buying yet another midfielder city can buy some fans."

A third added: "It's a joke that they even have tickets still available."

Will fans flock to the Etihad after Guardiola's plea?
