In news that the community is rejoicing over, FIFA 22 will see one of the game's biggest issues finally fixed.

In information alongside the gameplay trailer that dropped on Thursday, EA have confirmed that you can no longer throw any old player in at centre-back on this year's game.

EA confirmed that "defensive work rates and fatigue have a significant impact on the defensive positioning of players" and "placing any player that is not a centre-back in a centre-back position will negatively impact their defensive positioning".

To some this might only seen a minor detail in the grand scheme of things, but is in fact a massive deal because this has been a huge problem in previous games.

Often players would play fast full-backs in central defence and negate the attacking threat posed by your forward. Meta full-backs Kyle Walker, Nelson Semedo, Joao Cancelo or Ferland Mendy at centre-back was simply unfair because you couldn't get past them.

But unless the player is able to play as a centre-back and has it in his preferred positions, they will be nowhere near as effective this time around.

FIFA fans are already buzzing with the news:

EA are introducing new tactical AI, which will ensure opposition teams move more fluidly and naturally as a unit.

The trailer promises more defensive intelligence and a strong shape retained from those playing at the back.

Expanding in the pitch notes, EA explained: "Your defenders can operate more as a unit with the new Tactical AI, maintain the shape of the formation when moving across the pitch, cover vacant spaces, mark each defending zone accordingly, and bring more authenticity to their overall defensive shape.

"As was the case last year, the Defensive Awareness Attribute continues to be the most important in determining the effectiveness of these behaviours.

"Our goal for Tactical AI is to ensure players have a balanced experience in terms of AI teammates, and we will keep monitoring FIFA 22 to make sure there are good ways to break defence down as well as good ways to counter."

What are you most looking forward to in FIFA 22 when it is released on October 1?
