Diego Simeone initially went to shake hands with opposite number Jurgen Klopp before switching to an elbow exchange prior to the game at Anfield tonight.
Simeone greeted the Liverpool boss ahead of the Champions League round of 16 second leg but initially went for the usual handshake greeting.

It led to a bit of pre-match awkwardness but at least precautionary measures were taken by the pair.
But before that, Klopp fumed at Liverpool fans who extended their hands as he and the squad trotted out for warm-ups on the pitch.
Many fans sat near the tunnel were looking to get a high-five off their heroes.

But in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak, the Liverpool boss told them: "Put your hands away you f*cking idiots!". The fans did exactly that, with the exchange caught on camera.
Klopp's angry snub, which was probably justified, comes after he ripped into a journalist who asked if he was afraid of his players catching the coronavirus by playing football.
