David de Gea has committed his long-term future to Manchester United by agreeing to sign a new deal, according to stunning reports.

The Spanish shot-stopper, 28, has his current deal expire at the end of the season and had been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus in recent months.

According to the Daily Record, De Gea will remain at Old Trafford on an improved deal that would make him the Red Devils' highest-paid player.

The ex-Atletico Madrid star's new five-year deal will see him pocket a whopping £13.3m per season after tax, which is roughly around £255,000 per week.

De Gea's new contract, which includes an optional fifth year, will be a significant increase on his current £200,000-a-week deal.

And the United star would be placed in the top-tier wage bracket as French superstar Paul Pogba and be the best-paid player at Old Trafford after Alexis Sanchez's loan deal to Inter Milan.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told reporters ahead of United's clash with Leicester City that he was confident that the Spain international would remain at the club.

The United boss said at his pre-match press conference on Friday: "I want David to stay here.

"He knows that. And David's, for me, the best goalkeeper in the world.

"We've seen that over the years, and I hope that I can make sure that he'll finish his career at Man United at the highest level.

"There's been loads of talks, loads of discussions between David and the club, and hopefully we can get it done."

De Gea, who arrived at United in 2011, has won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League during his time at Old Trafford.

And the Spaniard became the first player in the club's history to win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year on three consecutive occasions.

United resume their Premier League campaign on Saturday when they host the Foxes at Old Trafford at 3pm UK time.

Should De Gea be the best-paid player at the club?
