Danny Welbeck Out For Nine Months

Poor Welbz!

Danny Welbeck will miss out on Euro 2016 and the first half of next season as it's been confirmed the injury he picked up against Manchester City early in the game on Sunday will keep him out for nine months following surgery.

Welbeck would have been on the plane to France this summer as one of Roy Hodgson's favourites as well as being on very good form since returning from an injury against Leicester on Valentine's Day when he scored the winner.

The former Manchester United striker has damaged cartilage in his right knee and it's a huge blow coming so soon after recovering from an injury to his left knee that he picked up in May of last year.

Missing the tournament in France this summer will be a big blow to both the player and the country as the Arsenal front man could play up front as part of a one, two or three man system depending on how Roy decides the players should line up.

The news could be a boost to fellow Arsenal forward Theo Walcott who will obviously be gutted for his teammate but could find himself in the England squad for the Euros due to the space that opens up because of Welbeck.

Welbeck has scored five goals since his return in February including winners against both Leicester and Norwich and looked very much like what Arsenal have been missing at times. He will now have to go back to concentrating on getting himself fit for January.

The 25 year old took to Twitter to say he'd be back:

The statement by Arsenal wished the player all the best on his recovery saying: "Everyone at Arsenal will be working hard with Danny throughout his recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the pitch as soon as possible."

We wish Welbz all the luck with his comeback.
