Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a message to Manchester United following their shock defeat to Young Boys in the Champions League.

Man United kicked off their European campaign with a crushing loss to the hands of Young Boys, who scored a last-gasp goal to secure a famous victory.

Ronaldo, who scored two goals on his second debut for the club, opened the scoring - with the Swiss outfit hitting back twice in the second half.

Moumi Ngamaleu cancelled out the Portuguese's effort, with substitute Jesse Lingard committing a huge error to allow Theoson Siebatcheu to net in stoppage time.

Ronaldo has since spoken out about the result, telling his team to recover and focus on their next game.

He tweeted: "Wasn't the result we wanted, but now it's time to recover well and focus on the next game!"

Speaking after his side's defeat, Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "We're humans, every footballer makes mistakes.

"With Jesse, no footballer likes making mistakes but it's obviously part and parcel of the game.

"We'll learn from it, he'll learn from it. He'll pick himself up and be ready to go on Sunday against West Ham."
