Chelsea 3-0 Down To West Brom As Thiago Silva Makes Huge Error

It's all gone wrong for the Blues at the Hawthorns...

Chelsea find themselves 3-0 to West Brom at half-time after a disastrous first half performance in which Thiago Silva made a huge error on his debut.

After Callum Robinson opened the scoring with a left-footed strike past Willy Caballero just four minutes into the game, the former Sheffield United forward was gifted a second when Silva took his eye off the ball in scenes not too dissimilar to Steven Gerrard's infamus clip against Chelsea in 2014.

The Brazilian veteran, who was made captain on his first appearance in a Chelsea shirt, carelessly let a pass from teammate Mateo Kovacic roll under his foot and allowed Robinson to nip in and slot home again.

Then, incredibly, the Baggies found themselves 3-0 up and in dreamland before the half hour mark when defender Kyle Bartley was left unmarked and stabbed in at the far post after a clever set-piece routine.

Signed on a free from Paris Saint-Germain, Frank Lampard had hoped that 36-year-old Silva would bring experience and organisation to a Blues backline that shipped goals far too easily last term.

However, he has got off to the worst possible start in English football with a shaky first 45 minutes in the West Midlands this evening.
