Barcelona's Sergio Busquets Hasn't Tweeted Since 'We're Ready' Post Prior To Liverpool Collapse At Anfield

Sergio Busquets' last tweet was on May 6 2019, the day before Barcelona were battered 4-0 by Liverpool.

Sergio Busquets has not tweeted since his motivational post a day before Barcelona's almighty Champions League semi-final collapse at Anfield.

The Blaugrana led Liverpool 3-0 from the first leg courtesy of a Lionel Messi brace and a strike from Luis Suarez at the Nou Camp.

Ernesto Valverde's side had one foot in the final as they headed to Merseyside for the second leg but ended up being on the receiving end of one of Liverpool's famous Anfield comebacks.

Exactly two years ago today, doubles from Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum gave Jurgen Klopp's side an incredible 4-0 victory that took them to the final, where they went on to beat Spurs 2-0 and claim a sixth European Cup.

Barcelona players were completely and utterly crestfallen and given their European performance since 7 May, you could say they are still scarred from the dismal defeat.

And Busquets, a two-time Champions League winner, appears to have been one of the players most affected. The night before Barcelona fell apart, he had tweeted, "We're ready" with pictures of him in training.

Two years have passed and the midfielder has not tweeted a single thing since. He wasn't particularly active on social media but did post the occasional generic tweet relating to games or training.

It's possible that Busquets forgot the password for his account but unsurprisingly, Liverpool fans are not letting the 32-year-old forget his tweet.

Poor Sergio.
