Barcelona Slammed For 'Embarrassing Post’, Shows How Far They've Fallen

Barcelona have been slammed for an embarrassing post on their official Twitter account which sees Memphis Depay perform a pointless piece of skill to make a straightforward pass to Jordi Alba.

The footage came from Barça's slender 1-0 victory over Dynamo Kiev to keep their Champions League hopes intact after two bruising 3-0 defeats to Bayern Munich and Benfica respectively.

Depay is out on the left-hand side and simply passes the ball with his left foot while swinging his right up in the air.

The text in the tweet says "Look Right", but if the fans had their say then one of the club's social media admins could be looking for their P45!

It is a seemingly pointless post and followers of the Catalan club have not held back in their responses to the ill-advised tweet.

It has been quote-tweeted 170 times at the time of writing, and includes comments such as: "finished club", "delete this nonsense" and "this club is so dead."

It sums up a remarkable fall from grace for the Spanish giants, who have seen their forward line decimated in the summer after the departures of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann.

They have also made an unconvincing start to the La Liga season with only 15 points from 8 games to date - five adrift of surprise leaders Real Sociedad.

The club also reportedly has debts of more than $1billion to pay and become one of the most hated institutions in the game, after being one of three teams to cling onto the concept of a European Super League.

Barcelona are back in action on Sunday when they play the first El Clásico of the season against Real Madrid at the Camp Nou.
