Amidst the frenzy in Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund staged their own comeback albeit trailing by just the one goal from the first leg. The German's thrashed Benfica 4-0 as they booked their spot in the next round.

The Portuguese outfit sprung quite the surprise beating their counterpart 1-nil a few weeks ago despite the visitors enjoying a lion share of the possession and the majority of the best chances.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the main culprit who failed to deliver, missing a hatful of chances not to mention fluffing his lines from the spot.

Though the Gabon goal machine redeemed himself by scoring not one but THREE goals as he helped guide Dortmund into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

And speaking to the clubs official website, Aubameyang revealed his inspiration behind his trio of goals;

"After the first leg, I was very sad and really unsatisfied with my performance. I made a lot of mistakes throughout that match. So I wanted to show my team-mates today that I'm capable of much more."

"I'm very happy that we won and that we made it through. Tonight was absolutely fantastic."

Boss Thomas Tuchel was clearly in a jubilant mood after securing their European passage. Not only did he give a brilliant interview regarding Barcelona's incredible comeback but he also poked fun of his star strikers performance in the first leg.

"After we had fielded Aubameyang's twin in Lisbon, we were happy to have him back for tonight's game."

The 27-year-old has netted an impressive 30 goals in 36 appearances for club and country this season, and, needless to say, is subject to intense transfer speculation with a host of clubs keeping tabs on him.

Aubameyang continues to churn out impressive outings and is heralded as one of the finest strikers football has to offer. But will he still be plying his trade in Dortmund next season? Watch this space.
