It's looking like France 2010 all over again for Argentina after they lost 3-0 in embarrassing fashion to Croatia, with reports in Argentina saying that the players have called for manager Jorge Sampaoli to be sacked before the final group game.

It's also been said that the Albiceleste group have been asking for Jorge Burruchaga, part of the 1986 World Cup winning team, to be instated as manager.

Sergio Aguero's post-match response to Sampaoli's comments that the team did not adapt would suggest that the players aren't exactly behind the former Sevilla and Chile boss.

"Let him say what he wants," was his quick comment in the mixed zone before jetting off.

Argentina play Nigeria in their final game in Group D but after the crushing loss last night, the 2014 finalists are relying on other results in order to make the knockout stages.

Speaking after the game, Sampaoli said the team is not built to get the best out of Lionel Messi, their talisman.

"I think that because of the reality of the Argentine squad, it sort of clouds Leo's brilliance," he said, as per the Daily Mail.

"Leo is limited because the team doesn't gel ideally with him as it should."
