Anthony Martial's performance yesterday might have saved his Manchester United future, for now at least, and he'll be very glad he plays for the richest club in the world as his next goal will cost them a lot.

Martial has not enjoyed the success this season under Jose Mourinho that he did last season under Louis van Gaal in his first term in England.

The Frenchman made an immediate impact in the Premier League, scoring on debut against Liverpool at Old Trafford, and continued to impress all season upfront and at left wing.

This season the 21 year old has only started 10 league games and has often been slated by Mourinho in the press. However yesterday he got a start against Watford and did very well.

He set up the first goal for Juan Mata and then scored the second after the break. That goal put him on 24 goals and the verge of a performance related add-on of 10 million euros for his transfer:

Yesterday was just Martial's third league goal of the season and the first one of the year having found himself behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford in the two positions he plays.

Jose Mourinho has previously criticised the former Monaco player for his performances but he was one of United's best players yesterday and the manager praised the work he's been doing the last two weeks.

United have paid £42 million for Martial already and owe another £8.5 million when he plays 10 more times for France and the same again if he wins the Ballon d'Or.

When will Martial score his 25th United goal?
