Andrea Pirlo is take his first steps into management by taking on the role as Juventus' Under 23 coach.

The legendary Italian midfielder attained the relevant coaching licenses at Coverciano and is now poised to return to his former club to kickstart his managerial career, according to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Pirlo had been waiting for the right offer to arrive and has now agreed became boss of the Juve second squad, with close friend Roberto Baronio, currently a coach within the Napoli academy, joining him as his right-hand man.

Pirlo will replace another former Juve player in Fabio Pecchia, the former Newcastle and Real Madrid assistant who has just guided the Juve B team to the Coppa Italia Serie C trophy.

Juve's Under 23 side playing in Serie C Group A and the Bianconeri youngsters will no doubt benefit from working one of the most gifted midfielders ever to play the game.

Having started out at Brescia before a brief spell with Inter followed, Pirlo joined AC Milan in 2001 and spent ten years with the Rossoneri, winning two Serie A titles and two Champions Leagues.

The 2006 World Cup winner joined Juventus on a free transfer in 2011 and continued to age like a fine wine, playing a key role in four consecutive Scudetto triumphs.

He finished his playing career stateside with New York City and now aged 41, will look to replicate his impressive playing career in the dug-out.

One thing we do know, is he'll look pretty suave on the bench.
