Newcastle Planning Huge Summer Free Transfer For Out-Of-Contract Serie A Star

Newcastle Planning Huge Summer Free Transfer For Out-Of-Contract Serie A Star

Newcastle have new funds available but are set to complete a big deal for free.

Newcastle United are reportedly targeting Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic and hope to bring the Croatian in on a free transfer.

The Magpies have been linked with a whole host of big names ever since their £305 million Saudi Arabia takeover was completed last month.

Although they are expected to splash the cash,The Sun claim one of their most realistic additions could come on a free in the summer window in the form of Brozovic.

Reports claim Newcastle have already made the first contact with the player, who is out of contract in June 2022 and has attracted interest from some leading European clubs.

He is happy and settled at Inter, where he won Serie A last season under Antonio Conte, but contract negotiations have stalled.

It's said the former Dinamo Zagreb man is demanding around £5 million per year but Inter do not want to offer him terms above £4.2 million.

With the two parties still not coming to an agreement as of yet, further talks are expected this week.

Asked about the situation, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta told Sky Sport the 28-year-old wants to remain with the Nerazzurri.

Newcastle parted company with Steve Bruce not long after the new owners came in last month and are now reportedly eyeing up former Arsenal boss Unai Emery as their No.1 managerial target.

Although Eddie Howe was also a leading candidate but Emery is now well in the frame and expected to take charge of his final game as Villarreal manager this evening.

Newcastle are to pay £6 million in compensation and Emery is set to be in the dugout for the trip to Brighton this weekend.
