Newcastle Look Set To Shatter Transfer Record In Deal To Sign Premier League Star

Newcastle United want their man.

Newcastle United look set to smash their club-record transfer in a deal to sign a Premier League star this month.

The Magpies have snapped up Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood so far following their mega Saudi-backed takeover.

They continue to be linked with a host of players ahead of the transfer deadline on January 31.

From Manchester United's Jesse Lingard to Bayer Leverkusen's Mitchel Bakker.

Not to mention Yves Bissouma who is also courting interest from Liverpool and Aston Villa.

Though Newcastle hope to fend off competition to snap up Bissouma by tabling a monstrous offer.

The Daily Mail claim Newcastle will hold fresh talks over a move for the Brighton midfielder.

But the club are demanding a transfer fee of £50 million.

If Newcastle table such offer, then it would shatter their transfer record which currently stands at £40 million - the fee to draft in Joelinton.

Bissouma has 18 months left on his current deal, with Brighton seemingly looking to cash in on one of their prized assets to avoid a free transfer scenario.

The 25-year-old is in his fourth season at Brighton, having joined the club from Lille in 2018 for a reported £17 million.

He's starred in England, making a name for himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the league.

The Mali international is currently at AFCON and has played in all three of their matches.

With two signings already completed this month, Eddie Howe is hoping for more reinforcements with his team still occupying a precarious position in the league despite winning last weekend.

Newcastle beat Leeds United to move to 15 points from 21 games. They're one point behind seventeenth-placed Norwich who beat Watford 3-0 in a basement battle.
