New footage of Real Madrid’s winning goal in the Champions League final has gone viral, and it shows just how good Federico Valverde’s pass was.

Madrid were second best for most of the match against Liverpool, but one piece of brilliance was enough seal another European crown.

The defeat by Madrid gave Liverpool a bitterly disappointing end to a wonderful season, having won both of the domestic cups, the Reds just didn't have enough to add a seventh European cup to the club's collection.

Sadio Mane and Mo Salah had Liverpool’s best chances but they were faced with a goalkeeper in scintillating form, in the shape of Thibaut Courtois who simply refused to be beaten, and he deservedly got awarded the Man of the Match accolade.

The winning moment came in the 59th minute, the move started with Luka Modric keeping the ball brilliantly to play a pass to Dani Carvajal, who then laid it off to Casemiro.

The Brazilian swiftly played it to Valverde, who took the ball into his stride and drove straight towards the Liverpool defence on the right hand side.

The Reds back line kept on dropping back, allowing the Madrid man to reach the edge of their box unchallenged, and at this point Valverde showed his eye for a pass.

Valverde drilled the ball towards the back post, waiting unmarked was Vinicius Junior, who had the simple job of tapping the ball home.

The defending from Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold was rightly questioned, both players should have done more to stop the ball.

That goal was enough as Madrid continued to withstand Liverpool’s late surge to secure a record extending 14th Champions League trophy.

Fans quickly reacted to the video of Valverde’s assist.

One fan tweeted: “Poetry in motion.”

Another fan simply said: “Perfection.”

All the talks before the game were surrounding the likes of Modric, Vinicius and star striker Karim Benzema, but Valverde stole the show with a masterful performance that earned him plaudits from fans on social media.

With one fan saying: “He’s criminally underrated by every other fanbase.”

The triumph in the Champions League capped off a wonderful season for Los Blancos. The ultimate Kings of Europe are back on their throne once again.
