New Chelsea signing Mykhailo Mudryk is already endearing himself to supporters by staying behind at the club's Cobham training base to complete extra gym work.

The 22-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge earlier this month after looking like making a move to Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Chelsea were the ones who secured his signature from Shakhtar Donetsk, and Mudryk made his debut as a second-half substitute during Saturday's 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

He gave James Milner a torrid time out wide, with the veteran receiving a yellow card and being replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold shortly after.

Mudryk looks to be adding more and more physicality to his game already too. Check out footage of the Ukraine international in the gym below.

In the gym, Mudryk takes part in an array of exercises that put his physical core to the test. As well as weight work, he's using steps to increase endurance.

Performance coach Dima Chapovskyi shared the video of Mudryk on his Instagram page with an interesting piece of information at the bottom.

He said: "37.00. It's not temperature. It's Mudryk speed against Liverpool." No wonder Milner struggled with the winger, who is 15 years his junior.

Chelsea supporters are very impressed with their new recruit. They believe Mudryk has the desire to achieve big things and be a positive influence on an otherwise disastrous season at Stamford Bridge.

One person said: "Nah this guy is crazy. I love him already."

A second tweeted: " Super chuffed we got someone like this. Worth every penny already for this alone."

Someone commented: "I'm convinced he's going to have a better Chelsea career than Eden Hazard."

While a fourth put: "He’ll have the impact Cristiano Ronaldo had in the Premier League when Manchester United signed him, bookmark this."

Chelsea manager Graham Potter spoke glowingly of Mudryk's showing at Anfield. Despite only being on the pitch for 35 minutes, he completed more dribbles than anyone else on the pitch.

He came close to giving the Blues the lead after producing some lovely footwork but put his shot just wide.

Potter believes there's more to come once he gets to grips with English football. He explained: "[Mudryk] hasn't played football for a while, he's been on a mid-season break so we've had to manage his minutes and he's still in that phase.

"But I think you can see his quality. I thought he had a good impact on the game."

Chelsea have also added David Datro Fofana, Joao Felix and Noni Madueke to their attack in the January transfer window.
