Mohamed Salah NOT In Garth Crooks' Team Of The Year, Fans Genuinely Can't Believe It

Mohamed Salah NOT In Garth Crooks' Team Of The Year, Fans Genuinely Can't Believe It

No place for Mohamed Salah.

Garth Crooks has stunned football fans after he snubbed Mohamed Salah of a spot in his Premier League team of the year.

Salah has been ultra-prolific for Liverpool in 2021, scoring 22 league goals last season.

He's on course for another brilliant goal-scoring campaign having already bagged 15 league goals this term.

But his heroics in front of goal has NOT earned him a place in Crooks' team of the year, with the BBC Sport pundit inexplicably leaving him out to the dismay of fans online.

He opted for Arsenal's Bukayo Saka and Manchester City's Phil Foden on the wings, with West Ham United's Michail Antonio down the middle.

Reece James, Declan Rice, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva make up the four-man midfield.

Fear not Liverpool fans, one of your star players makes the cut in the shape of Trent Alexnader-Arnold, who sits alongside Ruben Dias and Antonio Rudiger in defence.

On Salah, Crooks said: "Regular readers will know that I have had my issues with Salah when I thought he was chasing the golden boot award the moment the first ball of the season was kicked.

"Not anymore. Great to you have you back, Mo."

On picking Alexander-Arnold, he added: "Liverpool conceded eight goals in four games during February and March 2020, but that didn't stop them winning the title or Trent Alexander-Arnold getting into my team of the year.

"The England full-back also became the focus of the ridiculous argument as to whether he is good enough for England's starting line-up or not. Well, there's no doubt about that as far as I am concerned."

Fans, though, just couldn't look past the exclusion of Salah, with many taking to social media to slam Crooks' team.

Quite frankly, you can't blame them considering the form of the Egyptian star.

One tweeted: "ANTONIO AND SAKA OVER MOHAMMED SALAH?! This English bias ffs."

A second wrote: "Lol Saka over Salah."

A third added: "No Salah immediately renders this irrelevant. Ridiculous. Unbelievable disrespect. Please Garth don’t let us hear you say anything about AFCON now, you’ve left out Africa’s best player."

What's your take on Crooks' team of the year? Let us know.
