Brazilian forward Vitor Roque has revealed he dreams of playing for Barcelona, despite interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.

The 18-year-old, dubbed the 'next Luis Suarez', recently scored six goals to lead Brazil to victory in the 2023 South American Under-20 Championship.

Roque still has four-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at Brazilian side Athletico Paranaens. But his impressive form has earned him the attention of Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United.

Although, the teenager could follow in the footsteps of compatriot and international superstar Neymar, as he aims to seal a move to the Camp Nou.

The news will come as a major blow for the Red Devils, who have been rumoured with a move for Roque as a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Meanwhile, Gunner's Sporting Director Edu had reportedly used his South American connections to help coax the youngster to the Emirates.

Roque reveals Barcelona dream

In an interview with Spanish news outlet Sport, the forward was asked if Barcelona would be his destination of choice, and he responded: "Yes, it's a dream not only for me, but also for any player who comes along.

"If I end up going to Barca, it will be a great joy for my family and for me.

"That's why I have to keep working hard and hope that everything comes together in time."

Roque also revealed that he was inspired by Liverpool and Barcelona legend Suarez, believing he has a similar style to the Uruguayan.

“There is a great similarity," Roque added. "Both Luis Suarez and I use a lot of physicality in the way we play, and we also have points in common in finishing, being very keen on scoring goals,” he said.

“He’s now playing here at Gremio and I hope that when we play we can swap shirts. I’d love to have his shirt. I get a lot of inspiration from what he does and I hope that, if I go to Barcelona, I can be as successful as he was.”
