Dutch giants plot move for USA star who is being 'actively monitored' by Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag

Dutch giants plot move for USA star who is being 'actively monitored' by Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag

One Man Utd summer target is reportedly of interest to two Dutch giants.

Manchester United are reportedly tracking FC Utrecht star Taylor Booth ahead of a potential move - but they face competition from Erik ten Hag's former club, amongst others.

The 21-year-old United States international has scored two goals and provided three assists in 18 Eredivisie appearances since arriving at the Dutch club as a free agent from Bayern Munich last summer.

Having been named the league's player of the month for November, Booth has impressed onlookers, although is yet to make his senior debut for the USA national team.

However, given his technical skill and passing ability, that first cap will surely not be too far away - and he has reportedly caught the eye of United.

The Daily Mail claimed last month that United boss Ten Hag is a personal admirer of the midfielder, and is said to be monitoring his progress at the Dutch club.

Bayern were said to be 'unhappy' that he turned down a new contract with them in order to move to the Netherlands, with the opportunity of game time the key reason behind his move.

Now, it is suggested that if United want to do a summer deal, they may have fierce competition to battle with.

Man Utd target Booth of interest to Eredivisie sides

According to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf (via Voetbal Primeur), Eredivisie giants Ajax and PSV want to keep Booth in the country by convincing him to join them in the summer.

It is also claimed that teams from Spain and Belgium are keen on signing Booth, with the sale said to likely be over €8.5 million.

Such an amount would certainly be affordable for Ten Hag's side, who will likely be able to offer the 21-year-old the opportunity to play Champions League football next term.

But the above source reports that Ajax and PSV have both already contacted Booth's agents, meaning United may have to act quickly to hijack any move and give themselves the best chance of signing the midfielder this summer.
