Manchester United are preparing to make an £80million offer to bring Tottenham forward Harry Kane to Old Trafford this summer.

The 29-year-old, who recently became England's all-time leading goalscorer, has been linked with a move to United this summer, as Erik ten Hag aims to bring the Premier League title back to Old Trafford for the first time since 2013.

The Daily Mirror have reported that Ten Hag has made the prolific forward his number one transfer target ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, with United's hierarchy believed to have given the green light for a big-money move in the off-season.

Kane, who earlier this season surpassed Jimmy Greaves to become Spurs' all-time leading goalscorer, has just a year left on his contract and could be tempted by the increased likelihood of winning major trophies if he opts to link up with Ten Hag at Old Trafford.

The Manchester United manager has made it clear to his bosses that the club cannot afford to miss out on the England international this summer, with the Daily Star reporting that he has demanded that the club open talks with Kane as soon as possible, a player who he believes would turn the club into genuine Premier League title contenders.

Will Spurs allow Kane to leave?

It isn't the first time that Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from Spurs, having come close to joining Manchester City back in 2021.

The two parties couldn't come to an agreement on a fee for Kane, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy reportedly pricing the Premier League side out of a move for his prized asset.

Manchester United are understood to be tentative about entering negotiations with Levy, citing the difficulties they faced when negotiating a deal for Dimitar Berbatov back in 2008.

Levy is thought to be keen on securing the long-term future of Kane - who has been contracted to the club since 2009 - but with just a year left on his current deal, Levy may be forced to cash in.
