Gabriele Biancheri has joined Manchester United from Cardiff on a four-year deal.

The striker, who has represented Wales at under-17 level, has impressed at age group levels for the Bluebirds this term, striking 17 goals.

The 16-year-old was initially linked to United in the January transfer window, with the club keen to secure a deal which would involve Biancheri signing an initial scholar contract, which would become a four-year professional contract when he turns 17 in September.

Unlike other January deals, however, Ten Hag's side did not have to complete a deal for the Cardiff starlet before the transfer deadline last month.

And because United can only sign youngsters under the age of 18 that have UK citizenship due to post-Brexit Premier League rules, the club have opted to bring in the Welshman now.

Earlier this month, Fabrizio Romano confirmed the details of Biancheri's move.

He tweeted: "Manchester United are set to complete the signing of young talent 2006-born striker Gabriele Biancheri from Cardiff City.

"Understand it's four year pro contract now completed, just waiting for Fifa approval to finalise the deal."

Biancheri confirms move to Man Utd

Biancheri has now confirmed his move to Man Utd by posting a picture of himself in the club's shirt to Instagram, alongside the caption: "Ready for the next chapter! Let's go @manchesterunited."

His representatives Unique Sports Group have also sent a congratulatory message to Biancheri, who was described as a "fantastic" player by Cardiff under-18 boss Steve Jenkins last year.

"Gabe Biancheri is a red!! Delighted for client, @Gabe_b9, who has permanently joined Manchester United from Cardiff," tweeted Unique Sports Group.

"Best of luck, Gabe!"

The 16-year-old will represent United at age group levels at first, with a potential first team pathway on offer for the striker.

United's U18 team won the FA Youth Cup last season, although will not do the same this term. They suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to Stoke in the last 32 stage.

Travis Binnion's side, therefore, will be putting their energy into winning the U18 Premier League. They currently sit in third, 12 points behind leaders Manchester City, but with three games in hand on their rivals. With the addition of the firepower of Biancheri, United's age group side will hope to gain more silverware this term.
