Manchester United players are reportedly unhappy with Ralf Rangnick and one of them wants to leave in January rather than wait for the summer.

Rangnick's time as interim manager has hit its first real roadblock after failing to win two of his previous three games, including his first loss against Wolves on Monday.

According to one report as many as 11 of the squad are unhappy with life at Old Trafford right now and are looking at leaving the club in the future.

Amongst those is Jesse Lingard, who is yet to start a Premier League game this season, and the forward is ready to make the move sooner rather than later.

Lingard can leave for free in the summer, when his contract expires, but according to the Mirror he wants out this month and he could be on his way back to West Ham.

The 29-year-old was on loan with the Hammers for the second half of last season and his spell at the London Stadium pretty much revived his career, and earned him a return to England duty.

Lingard scored nine times and also got five assists in just 15 games for David Moyes side, and helped them qualify for the Europa League.

Moyes wanted to make the move permanent in the summer but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hoped to keep hold of the player for the season, and even wanted to persuade him to sign a new deal.

However, with the signings of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo, the players playing time was restricted and he's only played 268 minutes across all competitions so far this campaign.

The report says West Ham once again want to make the move permanent and are determined to make it happen this month, in a cut price deal, rather than wait for January.

Moyes side are now in a battle to make it into the top four spots, with United now their rivals for the last Champions League place for the season.

That could potentially put the 13 times Premier League champions from allowing the player to leave, especially in a season when Covid could hit and leave them short of players.

However maybe letting him go would help with relations going forward, should they make a move for one of the Hammers' own players in the future.

United have been urged to make a move for Declan Rice, who they've been linked with in the past, and the midfielder could cost well over £100 million in the summer.
