Manchester United are close to sealing a deal for Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia and his individual highlights have excited fans.

Malacia had reportedly agreed terms with Ligue 1 outfit Lyon, but United swooped in at the last minute.

The 22-year-old is set to become Erik ten Hag's first signing as manager and the Mirror claim a £14 million bid has been 'sealed'.

Feyenoord sporting director Frank Arnesen told Dutch publication 1908nl: "The agreement is there. We are now waiting for Tyrell [Malacia]. If he says yes, then a transfer to Manchester United is imminent."

Malacia is regarded as one of the Eredivisie's top talents and encapsulates what a modern full-back needs to be.

KaiiZoFilms on YouTube produced a video last month which sums up why ten Hag 'loves' Malacia's style of play.

The Netherlands international enjoys getting up the pitch and registered the most completed take-ons for a defender in the league last season.

Malacia does not shirk his defensive responsibilities however and completed the third-most tackles too.

He is expected to challenge Luke Shaw for a starting spot and it is likely current backup Alex Telles will be allowed to leave.

Most supporters won't be familiar with Malacia, but he did start Feyenoord's Europa Conference League final defeat to Roma back in May.

Supporters like what they've seen online however and are looking forward to his potential arrival.

One commented: "This kid looks so strong on the ball."

Another said: "He looks better than Shaw and Telles already."

A third put: "This is exactly the players we should be looking for hidden talents that can be developed in to future stars."

While someone explained: "Love the way he uses his body to shield and turn. Physically fit and fast."

Malacia has the same agent as Frenkie de Jong, who United are also working on a deal for.

Discussions continue over the Barcelona midfielder who ten Hag has identified as a key target.

United and Barcelona have a 'broad agreement' over a fee of £56 million according to Sky Sports while the finer details are yet to be worked out.

De Jong played under ten Hag at Ajax until joining Barcelona in 2019.

United finished sixth in the Premier League last season with their lowest-ever points tally.

They've since let a number of first-team players depart and are looking to rebuild.
