"I always..." - Sabitzer has already revealed his Man Utd dream ahead of deadline day loan move

"I always..." - Sabitzer has already revealed his Man Utd dream ahead of deadline day loan move

He's made his feelings clear.

Marcel Sabitzer has already expressed his admiration for Manchester United and their stadium, Old Trafford, as he edges closer to joining the Red Devils on loan.

United have made a late move to sign Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich following an injury to midfielder Christian Eriksen.

United released a statement on Tuesday confirming Eriksen would be sidelined for most of the remainder of the season after suffering an ankle injury in last weekend's FA Cup win over Reading.

"[He] is expected to be out of action for an extended period," read the statement.

"There is hope that Christian can return in time to play a role in the final stages of the season.

"While investigations are continuing, initial assessments indicate that Eriksen is likely to be out until late April or early May."

United have approached Bayern Munich over signing Austria international Sabitzer on loan as a replacement for Eriksen.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sabitzer has told United – via his agents - that he wants to join them.

Sabitzer: Playing at Old Trafford was 'special'

The midfielder has previously expressed his admiration for United, describing them as a "big team" ahead of a Champions League match against the Red Devils during his time at RB Leipzig.

Speaking to the media before the group stage match at Old Trafford, which ended in a 5-0 win for United, Sabitzer was asked if he was nervous about playing at the 'Theatre of Dreams'.

He replied: "No. Because I won’t be starting anyway, so I’m pretty relaxed. If I knew I was playing, it would be different.

"I'm just happy to be here because I used to see this stadium on TV as a kid and I always wanted to come here.

"So being here as an opposition player is something very special."

It remains to be seen whether United will be able to complete a deal for Sabitzer before the transfer window closes for Premier League clubs at 11pm (GMT) on Tuesday night.
