Manchester United fans demand club sign Andre Onana after compilation of his distribution surfaces

Manchester United fans are demanding their club sign Andre Onana after a compilation of him playing sweeper keeper surfaced online.

Manchester United fans are demanding their club sign Andre Onana this summer after a compilation of him playing as a sweeper keeper emerged.

United and Erik Ten Hag are looking for a new goalkeeper in the transfer window whether current stopped David De Gea stays or goes, with Jack Butland leaving and Dean Henderson also likely to move on.

De Gea's future is unclear, and the Red Devils have asked him to take a hefty pay cut if he's to stay with his contract up.

The majority of United fans seemingly want a swap between the stick, and Onana appears to be the man on many supporters' lips.

"This would help our midfield," said one United fan on Twitter in relation to the showing of Onana's distribution skills, shared by @EthanTaIks.

"Basically like having an Iniesta in goal," said another.

Onana, 27, has been known for his on-the-ball play for a while, but has stepped up his skills since joining Inter Milan from Ajax at the start of last season.

A strong shot stopper too, he helped his side to the Champions League final, though they lost out to Treble winners Manchester City 1-0 in Istanbul.

He knows Ten Hag well from their time together at Ajax, so would likely not take too long to adapt to the Dutchman's philosophy if he were to join.

He's also been the subject of interest from Chelsea, however, who are also eyeing up a goalkeeper as new manager Mauricio Pochettino looks to sign a settled number one with the futures of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy up in the air.

De Gea's distribution has been majorly criticised over the last few months, with the Spaniard struggling to adapt his game to suit the demands of a modern goalkeeper.

He's been caught out on more than one occasion, and it's likely the 32-year-old will play second fiddle to any incoming goalkeeper next season.

Onana made 41 appearances in his debut season in Italy, keeping 19 clean sheets.
