Manchester United fans are planning a protest against the club’s owners, the Glazer family.

The protest is due to take place when new manager Erik ten Hag gets his first experience at Old Trafford leading United.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils fans are planning to gather outside Old Trafford hours before a friendly match against Rayo Vallecano, which will take place on 31 July. The peaceful protest will be targeting the Glazer family.

The Glazer family have not been popular amongst fans for a long time, and their ever deteriorating relationship is nearing the point of no return. Fans are said to be angered by the owners’ decision to take dividend payouts totalling to roughly £8 million. The payment comes despite United failing to register any new signings in the transfer window.

Former United player Gary Neville showed his discontent towards the owners on Twitter by saying: "That’s why Dividends have to stop for a period. Every penny has to go back into the club until it becomes attractive again. The club has become a graveyard for players. Culturally for owners to take money out of a poorly performing business is demoralising!"

This will not be the first time that the United faithful have showed their discontent towards the owners, they forced their way into Old Trafford hours before a match against Liverpool in April 2021, ultimately causing the game to be postponed.

Banners that read ‘Glazers Out’ are often visible in the Old Trafford crowd.

United fans endured a torrid 21/22 season, despite the return of Cristiano Ronaldo offering some much needed comfort, the results on the pitch simply weren’t good enough. They finished in sixth place after collecting the club’s lowest ever Premier League points tally.

Ten Hag is looking to rebuild the United squad after the departures of many high profile players such as Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic.

Despite the numerous exits, no new players have come in as of yet. The club were interested in Darwin Nunez but the Uruguayan chose to join Liverpool instead. The club is said to be progressing with deals for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Ajax winger Antony.

🚨 Negotiations between Manchester United and Barcelona have advanced for the transfer of Frenkie De Jong. 🇳🇱

The final fee should be €80m. 🤑

But now the move hinges on the Dutchman's agreement.

Whilst free agent Christian Eriksen is still mulling over offers from United and Brentford.

Time is ticking and the new season is fast approaching. United are in desperate need to bring in new signings if they are to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool at the top.
