FFP forces Man Utd to chase different goalkeepers to Andre Onana

United are in need of a first-choice goalkeeper but are unlikely to be able to sign Onana from Inter Milan due to the price.

Manchester United have decided on two alternatives for Andre Onana, with the Inter Milan goalkeeper set to cost too much thanks to FFP rules.

It's a summer for balancing the books for many Premier League sides, who will have to sell in order to buy the players they want for next season.

Chelsea have been busy clearing their books in recent weeks especially with some players on the way to Saudi Arabia, although seemingly not Hakim Ziyech.

It was the reason that the Blues were willing to offload Mason Mount before the end of last month, with United ending up forking out up to £60 million to get their man.

United did want a central midfielder and the England star quickly became Erik ten Hag's number one choice, even if the club wasn't top priority for the player.

However they also need a striker and a defender but perhaps most pressing is their need for a number one goalkeeper after David de Gea's contract expired.

Inter's number one Onana was thought to be their top priority but having spent so much on Mount their transfer funds thanks to FFP have already been vastly reduced.

According to the Mirror, they are now exploring potential alternatives withe Feyenoord's Justin Bijlow and Eintracht Frankfurt number one Kevin Trapp both targeted.

United are expected to make some money by the sale of Dean Henderson, who was on loan at Nottingham Forest last season but was injured in the second half of the campaign.

Whatever transfer fee they get for the Englishman could go towards paying for either of the two Onana alternative transfer targets.

Bijlow is expected to cost around £20 million whilst Trapp could be available for for half that price, and either man would be happier using his feet than De Gea.

The club have been criticised for the handling of the Spaniard after his 12 year stay at Old Trafford came to an end, with even their message wishing him well on his wedding day causing some uproar.

United are still willing to talk to the 32-year-old about signing a new deal but he is not expected to be first choice if he does remain there.

Despite being given the Premier League's Golden Glove for most clean sheets last season a number of errors drew questions about his future, including in the FA Cup final.
