"Growing fears..." - Sky Sports News drop Man Utd takeover update as Glazers claim made

Sky Sports have dropped a Man Utd takeover update.

There are said to be 'growing fears' that Manchester United will not be sold outright by the Glazer family, Sky Sports News have claimed.

The soft deadline to submit offers for the club passed earlier this month. Qatar Islamic Bank chairman Sheikh Jassim, through his foundation, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos both placed bids to buy differing stakes in United.

The Glazers announced back in November that the board of directors would be 'exploring strategic alternatives' for the club, although did state there was no guarantee that any transaction involving the club would occur.

It was reported earlier this month by The Sun that the Glazers would accept no less than their £6 billion asking price for the club, and co-owner Avram Glazer was spotted at Wembley on Sunday as United defeated Newcastle to win the Carabao Cup.

When asked about Glazer's presence at the final, manager Erik ten Hag stated: "I'm not involved in that [takeover] process, but the way he is here you feel he is committed. But the process, what he wants, that is not for me."

Now, a new update has dropped on the state of play in the United bidding process.

Man Utd takeover latest update revealed

Sky Sports News have claimed that, as per sources, there are increasingly 'growing fears' that the club will not be sold, following on from Glazer's appearance at Wembley.

It was the first United game the American has attended since August, when Ten Hag's side lost 2-1 to Brighton on the opening day of the season at Old Trafford.

Sources also claim, as per the same report, that the Glazers are 'underwhelmed' by the offers submitted for the club, with the bids falling short of the £6 billion that is wanted to complete a sale or takeover, and that co-chairmen Avram and Joel Glazer are 'reluctant' to sell.

A report from the Financial Times over the weekend, meanwhile, calculated that United are only worth £1.3 billion, and the club's share price was down by almost 10 per cent on the New York Stock Exchange on Monday.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, chief reporter Melissa Reddy explained: "They [the Glazers] feel the club, that when you look at the potential for commercial growth, how they factor in emerging markets, and just what a massive sporting asset this is, it doesn't matter how much debt they have. It doesn't matter how much the infrastructure is going to cost. It doesn't matter how much in transfer fees they owe.

"The Glazers believe you should be puffing your chest out to own Manchester United. If you want to take it from them, you've got to put your money down.

"At the moment, it seems like they're very, very reluctant to part with the club, especially if they don't get anywhere close to their valuation."
