Sheikh Jassim 'has set three-man transfer shortlist' if Manchester United takeover is successful

Sheikh Jassim 'has set three-man transfer shortlist' if Manchester United takeover is successful

The Sheikh Jassim bid appears to have big plans for Man Utd.

Sheikh Jassim has identified his three primary transfer targets should he be successful in his takeover of Manchester United.

The Qatari has reportedly offered £5billion to buy 100 per cent of United, but is in competition with British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe to purchase the Premier League giants.

While Ratcliffe’s Ineos Group have allegedly put a higher value on the Old Trafford club, they are merely looking to purchase a controlling stake.

The Briton is also reportedly prepared to allow co-chairman Joel and Avram Glazer to retain a minority stake in the club.

However, should Sheikh Jassim beat off Ratcliffe’s bid, he reportedly has hugely ambitious transfer plans for the summer.

The Qatari banker is hoping to land three members of France’s World Cup squad who finished runners-up to Argentina in December.

Sheikh Jassim's triple swoop

According to Sport Bild’s head of sport Christian Falk, the Qatari wants to sign Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman and Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga.

Most notably, however, Sheikh Jassim wants to bring in Kylian Mbappe, who is arguably the world’s best player at present.

The France captain, who has claimed 35 goals this season, would cost an enormous fee, however.

According to Transfermarkt, Mbappe is worth £158million, having only signed a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain last year.

However, an approach for Camavinga could be feasible. While the 20-year-old has played 90 games in less than two years with Los Blancos, he could jump at the chance to re-establish himself as a midfielder after being deployed at left-back for most of the campaign.

And given Real are allegedly confident of winning the race for Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham, it could relegate Camavinga to an even lower spot in Carlo Ancelotti's midfield pecking order.

Meanwhile, Coman could be a solution to United's problems on the right flank, with Antony and Jadon Sancho having struggled to impress after their respective big-money moves to Old Trafford.

Despite only being 26 years old, Coman has already claimed numerous titles with the likes of Bayern Munich, Juventus and PSG.
