Man Utd staff told when they will receive clarity on takeover

Man Utd staff have been given a takeover update.

Manchester United staff members have been told when they will receive clarity over a potential takeover of the club, according to a recent report.

There had been concerns that the process had come to a standstill because the two public bidders have failed to match the Glazer's £6bn valuation.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the two interested parties and are set for talks at Old Trafford with The Raine Group who are handling the sale and United representatives.

Recent reports have suggested that an agreement needs to be reached before the end of the season otherwise any deal will be in jeopardy.

It now appears that a decision will be made soon with staff at the club informed that they will receive clarity on the ownership situation before the end of the campaign, according to ESPN.

The Red Devils desperately need investment so they can improve infrastructure off the field and the playing squad on it.

Will the Glazers stay?

Despite valuing the club below the set asking price, the fact the two public bidders have been invited for further talks suggests there is room for compromise.

A third unnamed bidder is apparently in the mix but only for a majority stake.

That could represent a last resort which would see the Glazers remain in control at the Theatre of Dreams.

The family is rumoured to be split over whether to sell with brothers Joel and Avram Glazer the most reluctant - the latter appeared at the club's recent Carabao Cup final victory over Newcastle United.

It was followed by a humiliating 7-0 defeat to arch-rivals Liverpool on Sunday making it clear that despite winning their first trophy in six years, United still have a long way to go.

They can't afford to get left behind by their rivals and with the current owners unwilling to invest any more cash something needs to change fast.

Since the American family took over through a leveraged buyout in 2005 supporters have consistently protested against their ownership, so if they back out of a sale now it will only create more controversy.
