A detail on the wall of Newcastle United's new-look training ground has been labelled "shameless" and "embarrassing" by Man Utd fans on social media.

On Tuesday morning, Newcastle's official Twitter account posted a four-minute video of the recently-improved training complex ahead of next season.

The building has undergone an "extensive" renovation, with the addition of hydrotherapy and plunge pools, improved changing rooms and an updated presentation room.

A modern players' lounge and a bigger dining area has also been added.

As well as the above, those behind the scenes at Newcastle have decided to plaster a number of pictures on the building walls.

And one of those images is from April 2nd, when the Magpies sealed an important win in the race for Champions League football over top-four rivals Manchester United.

Goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson handed Eddie Howe's a deserved 2-0 win and after the full-time whistle, the squad posed for a picture in the St James' Park changing rooms.

Over a month later and the selfie is proudly displayed inside the Benton training centre – a detail that has sparked plenty of reaction from Manchester United supporters.

One United fan commented on the picture, saying: "Newcastle really are trying HARD to create this fake rivalry," while another said: "Someone remind them they finished below us in the league and lost a final against us, we don’t know them like that."

A third wrote: "I mean they lost to United in the cup final. And they finished behind us in the league. They can swivel on the 2-0 win. Shows that the club is not even able to come up with legendary moments."

A fourth added: "Unbelievably embarrassing but just shows how massive we are."

Newcastle fans, on the other hand, didn't see much of a problem with it.

One said: "I’ve never seen a fan base so pressed about something like this. When will they realise that they aren’t special?"

Another commented: "Some fans don’t realise how much there team lacks unity and togetherness. Newcastle are absolutely thriving in it right now and long May it continue."

A third added: "You can see a different team photo in there you’re not special."

Thoughts on the detail at Newcastle's new-look training ground?
