Manchester United have entered the race to sign Celta Vigo Gabri Veiga, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag is in the market for midfield recruits this summer, with the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred rumoured with an exit. While midfield maestro Christian Eriksen isn't getting any younger.

It remains uncertain whether Marcel Sabitzer will make his stay permanent at Old Trafford, following a successful loan spell at the club.

The Austrian has impressed since making the switch to the Premier League, which has seen his parent club Bayern Munich hoik up their asking price to £35 million amid interest from Tottenham and Aston Villa.

Jude Bellingham has been long been rumoured with a move to United, and ESPN have claimed that the Red Devils remain interested.

However, Borussia Dortmund are expected to demand in excess of £100 million for his services, which has already put Liverpool off.

In the eventuality that Sabitzer and others do move on from United, Ten Hag has identified 20-year-old Veiga as a cheaper alternative to Bellingham.

Man Utd to rival Arsenal for Veiga

According to Spanish publication AS (via Sport Witness), the Red Devils are keen to sign Veiga this summer, with Celta Vigo willing to let him go for £36 million.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a breakout season in La Liga, scoring nine goals and providing four assists across all competitions.

The Premier League giants are expected to face competition, however, with Arsenal allegedly plotting a move for the midfielder.

Mikel Arteta is keen to add depth to his midfield in preparation for a busy European schedule next season, with Martin Odegaard having done the majority of the heavy-lifting in the attacking midfield position this term.

While Veiga, who was described as "amazing" by respected football scout Jacek Kulig, is said to be 'dreaming' of a move to the Emirates.
