Man United leading race to make sensational January signing - ten Hag is "crazy" about the player

Man United leading race to make sensational January signing - ten Hag is "crazy" about the player

The midfielder could cost over £100million.

Man United are reportedly leading the race to sign Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Erik ten Hag is apparently 'crazy' about the player and could try to sign the midfielder in January.

That is where Ten Hag may struggle to get what he wants as the Portuguese side are reluctant to sell Fernandez before the end of the season.

If United are desperate to sign the 21-year-old in the upcoming transfer window, Ojogo have reported he has a release clause around £100million which they would need to trigger.

Benfica have had a fantastic start to the season and progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League as group winners ahead of Paris Saint-Germain.

They will face Club Brugge in the round of 16.

According to Record, a Portuguese outlet, United are 'delighted' with the Argentine and are leading a list of other European clubs for his signature.

Fernandez started every Champions League group stage game for Benfica except for the 6-1 thrashing over Maccabi Haifa as he was suspended due to too many yellow cards.

Considering he is a central midfielder, his goal contributions have also been impressive. He has three goals and four assists in all competitions.

The report from Portugal also claims that Liverpool, Manchester City and Barcelona are all also keeping tabs on the midfielder.

However, the Daily Mail state that Man City are leading the race for Jude Bellingham and may not move for Fernandez if they are to sign the Borussia Dortmund superstar.

United have already missed out on signing on Benfica sensation to a rival.

Liverpool signed Darwin Nunez in the summer for a massive fee of around £85million.
